South Africa's Energy Minister Elizabeth Dipuo Peters addressed delegates on Tuesday afternoon, 4 September, at the official networking reception at the 2012 Clean Power Conference & Expo in Cape Town. The conference focused on new opportunities in the hydropower and solar energy industries, where a scale model of the PTS – Single Axis Inclined Vertical Polar Tracking Structure was exhibited by GSI.

There is a delicate balance between the need to provide access to electricity for consumers, and that of trying to find ways to promote the use of efficient and diverse sources of sustainable energy. It is therefore apt that energy experts had gathered under one roof at the Clean Power Africa conference to discuss optimal ways to ensure sustainable energy for all of Africa, which in turn can contribute to economic and social development.
